About Jool
Jool, shorthand for Joolker. Currently living in Alberta, Canada and loving every minute of it. Interested in webdesign, sports, online gaming, webdesigning, graphic designs or anything else that manages to catch my attention. I am also interested in music, my last.fm profile can show what I listen to.About JoolDesigns
I started JoolDesigns.net in early November 2003, as a hobby and an attempt to get back into the web design world after almost a year's absence. It features some tutorials I've written over the years, some helpful scripts I think people need to know about, and it is basicly my constant experiment. Now, a bit about the version history. Version One was quicky ushered into version 3 (skipped v2, dunno why, oh well) which was a portal based system. Many skins went through on that portal before I finally moved on to Version 4, around April 2004. Version 4 was a green layout, quite successful in my opinion, a ton of content was added during this layout, more then in any other layout (so far). Version 5, a beige layout was a flop, most likely due to it being so cluttered. Version 6 was a sleek, teal/orange design that, although simple, was pleasing to the eye and worked out quite well. Version 7 carried on the trend started by version 6, simplicity at it's purest form. Smooth, streamlined, every part of the site site has a use, using space effectively to keep a sleek and simple design was something I tried to achieve during the design. Version 8 was a very sleek design if I do say so myself. It was planned not only for the current, but for the future with room for even more content, possible skinning oppurtunities and many other great things, some of which never came into reality, but the thought was there at least.. It also has a very good yellow man at the top on all pages, gotta love it. The current version brings back to a more personal feeling, it's also the first layout I've used in a while that wasn't conceived in photoshop, instead it becomes the first tableless version of JoolDesigns, which means, there are no tables, only divs styled using some fairly crafty css coding. Another innovation in this version is the introduction of an rss feed to the news, something which could spread the popularity of the site as you don't have to be actually on the site to know if anything new has happened!Awards
The site has only won one award so far, a Golden Web Award, but hopefully more will come soon.
